I got a wakeboard about 2years ago and my dad just got me a helmet. I really want to beable to go over ramps, but I dont know how! HELP!!!
Well before you try anything, make sure ur wakeboard doesnt have any fins at all. Cause if it does, it would not be a pretty sight when ur on the ramp. When you approach the ramp, stay low and make sure the weight is centered in ur body and jump when u approach the edge so that way u wont end up doing a belly flop. When u land, stay low and brace with your feet. Hope this helps.
Just wondering if you can get the full effect of wakeboarding if being pulled by a pontoon boat? Does is depend solely on the speed of the boat?
We have tubed the kids behind our pontoon, all depends on the motor size and if there are any speed restrictions on your waterway./lake….also dont overload the pontoon with people watching,, that cuts down your speed…….

My family recently purchased a 20′ pontoon boat with a 90hp yamaha. I was wondering what a boat like this could pull. Can it handle a wakeboard, or is that too much drag? I weight 210 lbs, so I’m looking for a ride that will have little drag. Do I need to stick to a small tube or a kneeboard? What do you recommend? Thanks!
You should be able to wakeboard as long as the boat can do 18-25mph, although I’m not sure about if the wake a pontoon boat produces will be cohesive to wakeboarding.
If your really worried about extra drag, buy a Hyperlite Era or similar 3 stage board(Make sure the board is 140cm or larger(Larger==more surface area==less drag). It will sit higher in the water and pop you out of the hole a little faster.
You can ride a wakeboard just messing around doing slides and stuff around 10-12mph, but if you want to do any real riding, you need the extra speed.
I inherited a 16 ft 1960 Glasspar boat from my grandfather. It has a merc 40 hp motor, I think my granpa used it mostly for fishing, but I want to be able to wakeboard, and ski behind it too. Is 40hp enough, or do I need to get a bigger motor?
As long as you don’t have a lot of people in thee boat. I had a 40hp mercury on my 16′ bass tracker. It was fine until you put the 3rd or 4th person in it and it started bogging down. I could of went to the power prop but then you loose your speed. So I upgrade to a Yamaha 60. The boat will run around 45 to 50 mph now and no matter how many I have in the boat it is the same.
It also does top speed in 3.6 sec. So it makes a lot of difference.
If I were you I would try it out first to see if it works for you. It cost $5,400.00 to change the motor out on my boat. Good Luck.
